"Going with the Grain" Pop-up Dinner
Louisiana Cookin' Magazine and Cajun Country Rice invite you to join us at the Falcon Rice Mill for "Going with the Grain," an exclusive pop-up dinner featuring award winning Chef Justin Girouard of The French Press Lafayette. First, step inside the rustic walls of the magnificent facility for refreshing cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, as well as a guided tour of the only remaining family-run rice mill in the country. Then take a seat, and get up close and personal with Chef Girouard as he concocts a one of a kind menu featuring a multi-course dinner including dishes prepared from the variety of rice found in the Cajun Country Rice line.

Hors d' Oeuvre: Foie Gras Dirty Rice Croquettes

1st Course: Cajun Country Rice "Tabouleh" Stuffed Quail Salad with Baby Arugula, Feta, Marinated Tomatoes, and Balsamic Vinaigrette

2nd Course: Coriander Seared Gulf Tuna with Coconut Lobster Fried Rice

3rd Course: Roasted Duck Breast with Duck Rice Dressing, White Asparagus, Braised Kale and Sauce Meurette

Dessert: The Best Rice Pudding Ever

The Mill & Rice

As the manufacturer of Cajun Country medium, long, whole grain brown, popcorn, and jasmine rice,  the Falcon Rice Mill has remained the only family run rice mill in the country. The hard work and dedication set forth by  founders, Edward and Evelyn Falcon, has been carried on throughout the family by continuing to provide a varied line of quality rice products grown, milled, and packaged by the people of Louisiana.

The Chef

New Orleans trained Lafayette native, Justin Girouard, is the Chef and owner of the highly acclaimed restaurant, The French Press Lafayette. Receiving his training at Stella in the French Quarter and in Southern France, Justin's sensational talent has made him a two-time James Beard semi-finalist for Best Chef of the South and he was chosen as one of Louisiana Cookin's 2013 Chefs to Watch.
